Member | Guys what is the eye in the evaporator supposed to look like when the system is charged? We added another can and I put some dye in there to find the leak. It’s still blowing cold after a couple of days, and I can’t see any leak yet under a blacklight. Member | Well after a summer of having this ‘fixed’ only to have it start blowing warm after a while, the shop says it should be good to go. They replaced the condenser, all the o-rings, and finally found the final leak on the evaporator in the cabin. They’ve charged and evac’d it a number of times, but he says he can only get it down to 50� output. Is that acceptable? I’m going to pick it up shortly._’99 SR5 4×4, 3.4L V6 Automatic |

Because the compressor is not engaged and the air is not cold, the problem must be electrical; however, all of the control lights are in good working order; there are no blinking lights or anything abnormal; the blower is fine at all speeds; the only air being blown is ambient temperature; do you have any suggestions on where to begin?
If anyone can point me in the right direction or provide a copy of the schematic, that would be highly appreciated.
It appears that the signal to engage the clutch is not getting through to the compressor.

I’m assuming he charged you somewhere in the neighborhood of a hundred bucks for checking out the system. That is the standard rate in my neighborhood. If you’re going to obtain another diagnostic, I’d recommend going via the dealer. After that, you may purchase all of the necessary parts, including oil and Freon, and have your neighbor install them.

It was a bizarre thing that happened to the evaporator. Usually, if anything is going to fail, it is the condenser, which is caused by road debris. In 2004, I purchased a brand new RSX, which was damaged by a rock on the third day of ownership. The evaporator, on the other hand, is located under the dashboard and is more difficult to replace than the condenser.
Prior to purchasing my own system, I used to complete all of the work and then transport the car to a location that provided free A/C inspections.

My understanding was that any malfunction the system detected and immediately shut down would result in a flashing air conditioning light on the dash. When you press the button, it responds with ‘na,’ meaning ‘I don’t want to run,’ and a blinking light indicates that it is shutting down.
It’s difficult for me to fathom why there is a leak in the evaporator.
Also, use caution while dealing with your neighbor.

Was debating trying charging it myself with apep boyskit of gas and oil without the sealants, just to see whether the gas leaves rapidly or if it stays in for a long period of time, and was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were.
