I am aware that the compressor is operating when the air conditioner is switched on; yet, there is no cool air. But that’s all I’ve ruled out, and I’m not sure what else I should check for in terms of faults or leaks at this point in time.

  4. Check to see if you are still getting heat, as the blend door can become stuck or broken in the middle of the machine, preventing you from being able to use any other settings.
  5. If it does, you have a clutch on the fan that is broken or worn out.
  6. I recall the heater functioning properly during the winter; however, I’ll double-check it.
  7. I’ve purchased a bottle in order to refill it; I’ll report back to you on how it goes.

So I took it to a mechanic, who discovered that the evaporator core was leaking heavily.

As a result, the evaporator core must be replaced.

On the 31st of May, I took a nap in the truck while the air conditioning was turned on.

This caused me to increase the setting to Max, and it still didn’t seem to be that cold even when the temperature was well above 30 degrees.

I’m going to try recharging it and see how it turns out this time.

AC not blowing cold and refrigerant level reads filled

Dhonnoll first posted this on his blog. Second, I hadn’t considered that possibility. Yes, according on my experience, the most common problem is a low refrigerant level caused by a leak in the system. If the refrigerant level drops to a certain level, a safety switch is activated to prevent the compressor from continuing to operate while ‘dry.’ I went over all of my vehicles just last week because the temperatures have been hovering around the 80s here in the south recently. When the compressor is not working, the low side pressure on my 2013 XLT rises by 20-25 psi, I believe.

  1. The refrigerant level dropped to such a low level the first year that the compressor would not turn on anymore.
  2. Initially, I had to add just enough refrigerant to get it up and running again before I could complete the charging process.
  3. All of this, however, is only applicable provided there are no electrical difficulties preventing the compressor from kicking on and working.
  4. I’m in luck!
