Postbymonteogo» I experienced a fuse problem with my o6 mercury monteogo today, and as a result, the radio ceased to function. Additionally, the power windows stopped functioning. There was no difference after changing a couple 1520 amp fuses. I looked in the fuse box under the dash for problems. On the top of the fuse box is a tiny metal circuit breaker for emergency usage. I took out this fuse (circuit breaker) and replaced it, and the radio and power windows began to function properly again.

This circuit breaker is depicted in the owner’s instruction booklet. I’m still not sure how this circuit breaker was reset, but it appears to do so when the breaker is removed. I hope this helps you avoid a trip to the dealer or your mother’s insistence on a new set of wheels.

Power Windows Not Working: the Back Windows Will Not Roll Down .

The passenger window will not open on the SEL model with security in the vehicle indicated above. In accordance with Fig. 52: 2002 Ford Taurus SEL Power Window Circuit Diagram Test 1a, the passenger window is depressed via the driver’s master switch (DMS). Test 1b, the passenger window does not appear to be raised by the DMS. Test 1c, the driver’s window, the rear right and left windows, as well as the respective individual switches, are all functioning from DMS. Conclusion 1: The Accessory Relay and Fuse are in good working order.

  1. Test 2b, the passenger window does not rise when the PSS is activated.
  2. Conclusion 3: The regulator is up and running.
  3. Conclusion 4, There is a good ground path from DMS terminal 4 to PSS terminal 6 and from DMS terminal 3 to PSS terminal 1 and from DMS terminal 4 to PSS terminal 6.

2005 taurus power window problem

There is no way to reach the terminals on that enormous connector block, which is particularly problematic on the master switch, even with a shop manual, pinouts, and a circuit diagram, so you may go insane trying to diagnose an issue with them. The wiring is set up in such a way that the switches alternate between on and off states, with the master functioning as an interlock. If you were attempting to raise a window while your child was attempting to lower it, this would not be a smart idea.

  1. I just pull all of the switches, which snap together and may be snapped apart, but only with caution, as springs will shoot out all over the place if not done correctly.
  2. Find the bare copper, which is completely corroded and has some grease on the contacts, which has been baked into a rock-hard consistency by the hot sun.
  3. However, you can see Chinese children putting these things together while blindfolded.
  4. The best time to remove door panels is on a really hot day with your car parked in the sun.
  5. On a cold day, heat up the garage and apply a heat gun to the affected area to alleviate the discomfort.
  6. Snapping door panels is not nearly as difficult as unsnapping a dashboard panel.
  7. Another issue I’ve seen is the low-cost eight-strand bare copper 16 AWG wire that they utilize between the door and the body of the car, which is protected by PVC insulation.
  8. That PVC becomes as hard as a rock and has the ability to split in half.
  9. However, it is quite difficult to splice in wires that are bent in such a way that it causes back pain.
  10. We did pay a little extra for wind up windows, because there is no such thing as convenience when you have to spend a couple of days trying to keep power windows from breaking down.
  11. Have a breakaway clutch, or at the very least some do; the majority, however, are now employing a circuit breaker, which can also fail.

Have a good time. When I returned from Chicago in sub-zero cold with those ridiculous toll booths, the window fell down and wouldn’t come back up. It was a frustrating experience. I just thanked my lucky stars that I didn’t have any children in the car.

Failure occurred on June 14, 2001. On August 3, 2000, the original drivers side window motor was replaced with a new one. On August 25, 2000, the engine in question failed and had to be replaced. On September 26, 2000, the engine in question failed and had to be replaced.

However, the automated window closing mechanism on my 2013 Ford Taurus does not working. What am I doing wrong? I can open them by pressing and holding the unlock button for a couple of seconds, but they will not close if I press and hold the lock button for the same amount of time. I already have Global Open (which came from the manufacturer), and I’d want to see whether it’s possible to enable Global Close.

Postbysheltonfilms» MKS is, in my opinion, simply Global Open in disguise. I’m confident in the MKX’s ability. I made a blunder when I stated that the Lincolns are capable of pulling it off. Lincolns were the first Ford vehicles to offer any kind of remote window capability, although the majority of them simply have global open (except for MKX which I have personally tested). Because the windows may be programmed to shut and open automatically, and because there is just a single signal cable connecting each window, it appears to be a simple programming issue providing the correct signal to close the windows.

It’s possible that the BCM never received the code.

Postbyomar302» According to the owner’s handbook, the MKS is equipped with global open and close. It also includes auto-up and down functionality for all four windows. Global open and auto up/down are only available on the earlier MKX (pre-2016), and only the front windows are powered. Unfortunately, Forscan is not providing me with the choice to enable Global closure so that I can see if it works, and I am unsure of which blocks need to be altered in order for it to operate properly.

The window switches now function properly, however the window lock element of the switch does not (it functioned properly in the old switch before it was replaced with this one). There are also two tabs on the switch housing that are intended to match up with slots in the door mounting piece, but the slots on the new switch were inverted, so I had to cut new holes in the door mounting piece so that the switch housing would fit into the mounting piece properly. All of that is OK to me, but the quality control on the switch that I received was clearly missing in this instance.

That is, they probably thought that you would be able to just pop the switch out of the door panel without having to totally remove the door panel in order to get the switch out.

Overall, the task took me well over an hour, and I had previously removed door panels from other vehicles, so I wasn’t entirely in the dark about how to go about that section of the operation.

Unfortunately, there were just too many things wrong with mine, as well as unanticipated complications, that caused the task to take far longer than the 5 minutes claimed on the internet for this switch, preventing me from giving it a better rating.

In hindsight, if I had realized that removing the door panel and completing the task would take an hour rather than five minutes, my rating would have been higher, but still not five stars. At the very least, all of my windows are now operable up and down.
