- Rear Wiper doesn’t work — Expedition Navigator If the rear wiper doesn’t work on your Explorer or Navigator, pop the rear window open to make sure the wiper mechanism is disengaged from the motor drive plate. Next, open the beauty cover over the wiper arm attaching nut.
Why is my rear windshield wiper not working?
The most common electrical problem in your windshield wiper system is a blown fuse so that’s a good place to start. The fuse will most likely be in the main fuse block under the hood. Other problems could include a burnt out wiper motor, a problem with the wiper control switch or a problem with the delay module.
How do I know if my rear wiper motor is bad?
Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Windshield Wiper Motor
- Wiper blades move slower than programmed.
- Wiper blades only have one speed.
- Wiper blades don’t move.
- Wiper blades don’t park in the correct position.
How do I reset my windshield wipers?
Your wipers may need resetting due to loosening up over time, or being forced out of position when an abnormal amount of stress was placed on the wipers, such as clearing large chunks of ice. Resetting the wipers involves removing the wiper linkage and manually placing the blades in the right position.
How do you test a rear wiper relay?
Check for voltage input to the rear wiper relay by removing the relay from the panel and measuring voltage at the appropriate socket terminals with the ignition on. If there is voltage input to the relay but no voltage reaching the motor, then the relay is faulty and should be replaced.
What causes windshield wiper motor failure?
Some factors can disrupt this process. For instance, too much ice or snow on your windshield may cause your wipers to get jammed and cause circuit overloading. Your wipers may also malfunction if components like the control switch, wiper control unit, wiring, or linkage blades fail.
How do you test a wiper control module?
Use the fuse pattern shown on the cover and locate the wiper motor fuse. Test the fuse using your twelve volt test light. Clip the ground lead to a solid ground source and touch the positive lead to each side of the fuse. If the test light lights up on both terminals, the fuse is good.
How do you change a rear windshield wiper motor?
Remove the electrical connector from the motor. Push down on the plastic tab and pull it out. Three bolts hold in the wiper motor, remove the bolts and pull the wiper motor out. Install the new wiper motor.
Where is the wiper relay?
In some vehicles, the wiper relay switch is inside the actual windshield wiper motor. If it fails, the entire motor needs to be replaced, as you can’t get parts to fix it.
Is rear wiper necessary?
Is a Rear Windshield Wiper Even Necessary? Many opinions exist regarding the absence of rear windshield wipers on sedans. Some claim that because of the aerodynamics of a sedan, it doesn’t require one: Windshear alone does a fine job of driving water, snow and debris from the surface of the glass.
How much does it cost to fix a windshield wiper motor?
You will pay between $230 and $310 for a windshield wiper motor replacement. The cost of labor on this job will be between $50 and $70, while the cost of parts should be between $180 and $250.
What is a wiper park switch?
The park switch allows the motor to stop when wipers are positioned at the bottom of the windshield in their ‘park’ position.
Rear Wiper doesn’t work — Expedition Navigator
Some Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator owners may have a dead battery, as well as a shaky rear wiper, in their vehicles from 2003 to 2007. According to TSB07-10-13, the problem may be identified and diagnosed using the following procedure: Expedition Navigator has a problem with the rear wiper. To determine whether the rear wiper on your Explorer or Navigator is not working, open the back window and check to see if the wiper mechanism has been disconnected from the motor drive plate. After that, remove the beautiful cover that is covering the wiper arm attachment nut.
Keep the window open for the duration of this examination.
It is necessary to replace the rear window striker/wiper pivot shaft assembly if the quantity found to be larger than this amount.
The wiper system continues to try a park move on a periodic basis, and the battery is depleted by the repeated efforts.
- According to TSB07-10-13, the problem may be identified and diagnosed using the following procedure: To check that the wiper mechanism has been disconnected from the motor drive plate, lift the rear window and open it.
- After that, attach a dial torque wrench to the nut and rotate the wiper arm throughout the whole length of travel, making sure that the blade remains in contact with the glass the entire time.
- The maximum amount of torque that may be measured is 49 INCH pounds.
- Because to corrosion on the wiper pivot shaft assembly, the wiper arm is unable to return to the park position, causing excessive torque to be generated.
- Rick Muscoplat was born in the year 2012.

Good blades
The deadline for submissions is December 29, 2021. I haven’t used them yet because it hasn’t rained yet in Southern Florida, but I have used this brand in the past and had fantastic results! I would recommend them! I’m looking forward to the same thing with this one, as well. R-11-A-Rebel is the size of the source.
Warped, doesn’t touch window
The deadline for submissions is December 24, 2021. The bottom of the frame is twisted and does not clear the glass pane. The following is the size: R-16-A- Mr MrsO
Fine but why so expensive?
The date is December 19, 2021. We made the decision to spend more money on more costly wipers. I can’t tell the difference between this one and the one I took off. It does the job, but it isn’t much better than the alternatives. Source: Size: R-12-E-John Leonard (inches).
Great quality!
The 17th of December, 2021 Exceptional quality! R-12-B-MG Rigby is the size of the source.
Be sure to remove the blade rubber protector
The date is November 26, 2021. The first day I had these wipers on my car, I thought they were absolutely horrible. They created stripes on the wall and were completely ineffective. Then I saw a little plastic blade shield that was slowly but steadily slipping off the wiper. HA It is beneficial if you completely unpack the blade. Make careful you remove the tiny cover that covers the rubber section before continuing.:-) R-12-A- Scott is the size of the source.

Yes, this one works – Prius V 2012
The date is October 28, 2021. I finally found one that fits flawlessly (OEM) on my Toyota Prius V 2012 after attempting two other well-known brands. Only the rear windshield blade is included in this package, which contains one blade. It takes less than a minute to complete the installation. There are a plethora of YouTube videos that demonstrate how to repair these blades if they become damaged.
Moreover, the blade is made of high-quality rubber and has sufficient depth to allow for effective glass cleaning when required. I’m pleased with my purchase, and Amazon delivered it quickly. R-12-A-VS is the size of the source.

Nice but pricey

Does not fit 2015 Mazda 3
The date is September 02, 2021. I used the Amazon filter and other web tools to figure out which blades I should acquire for the back window and which ones I should avoid. This was corroborated by a number of different sources (including Amazon). It does not suit the bill. It may be removed, though, in order to access the rubber blade. Cutting this to size and inserting it into your old blade holder (which just requires a little lubricant!) may be accomplished with a little extra disassembly and re-assembly.

Fits 2013 Dodge Journey
The date is November 8, 2020. I would give this thing my highest recommendation. I don’t usually write reviews, but after having a tough time getting a rear wiper replacement for my particular vehicle, I thought others could benefit from the information I had discovered. For my 2013 Dodge Journey, the specific size required for the rear wiper has proven to be difficult, if not impossible, to get in a retail facility in the past few months. After checking the major 2-3 auto parts stores in the area, I was finally able to discover this item in stock at my local Walmart.
It appears that the 12-B would work with a 2013 Dodge Journey, however it will not work with this vehicle.
I had to seek for the 12-A for quite some time before I located it.
It performs the same functions as any other wiper blade in terms of cutting through the rain on the windshield without leaving streaks on the glass.

How to Fix Intermittent-Wiper and Turn Signal Problems on the Multifunction Switch
The most typical faults on the multifunction switch in late-model automobiles are intermittent wiper controls and malfunctioning turn signals. You may save money by completing the repair yourself; it isn’t nearly as difficult as it appears.
Tools Required
This lever, which was previously known as a turn signal or blinker switch, now controls headlights, high beams, emergency flashers, wipers, and washers, among other things. It’s no surprise that it’s now referred to as the multifunction switch (MFS). Unfortunately, the MFS has a significant failure rate compared to other systems.
The two most common failures are:
- A malfunctioning ‘canceling’ system for the turn signal that will not turn off the ‘blinkers’ after a turn
- A partial or total loss of control over the intermittent wipers
The following tools and materials will be required to resolve these two issues: a shop manual, a digital voltmeter, and potentially some Torx bits
Locating Your Vehicles Multifunction Switch
The MFS may be found behind the steering wheel on the majority of late-model automobiles, hidden behind the plastic coverings. If that is the case, you may complete this repair in approximately an hour and save the money that would have been spent on an hour or two of shop labor. However, certain older cars necessitate the removal of the airbag and steering wheel, which is a procedure best left to a professional. See whether your MFS may be found in a shop manual by searching online (you can find shop manuals with an online search).
Here are 100 automobile repair and maintenance activities that you can complete on your own.
Project step-by-step (4)
Always disconnect the negative battery connector and wait 15 minutes for the airbag system to shut down before beginning work on the steering column or other parts of the vehicle. Then unscrew the screws and pull the plastic covers off the screws. Keep track of the screws by doing the following: Using the screws that hold the bottom half of the steering column cover together, remove each screw and make a note of the length, thread style, and location of each screw. They will have to return to the same location.
Step No.
All About the Multifunction Switch
The headlights, flashers, wipers, and intermittent windshield washers are all controlled by multifunction switch levers. Hex-head or Torx screws are often used to secure the MFS in place. Remove them, pull out the switch, and unplug the electrical connector from the wall outlet. If the problem is caused by a malfunctioning canceling mechanism, you will need to replace the complete MFS (auto parts store or dealer). If the issue is defective intermittent wiper operation, the following steps should be taken: If the intermittent wiper operation is problematic, use a multimeter to examine the connections on the rear of the MFS for resistance (ohms) readings for each setting on the intermittent wiper dial.
Then compare them to the instructions in the handbook.
If your resistance readings are incorrect, the shop manual will instruct you to do so.
Look for the phrase ‘multifunction switch repair’ on the Internet. The following options are available if neither strategy works: If you are unable to remove or clean the MFS, replace the complete device and reapply the covers.

Ford Expedition Electrical Problems – Page 3
Hey. Thank you for your article, since it validated what I had discovered in just one other post, namely, that the final absolute solution to this entire problem is not the PCM, EEC, or Transceiver in the key/column, but rather in that darn short in the cluster, which you mentioned before. A year after the car was manufactured, Ford issued a technical bulletin on the subject. Funny. It had been snowing here for three days, with temperatures hovering around 32 degrees,’snow-snot’ all over the floorboards, snow fog all over the place, and horrible weather.
I was completely broke at the time, so I disconnected the battery and the PCM plug.
moisture.
I removed the PCM from the vehicle.
So, a small low-temp blow-dryer, a generous amount of WD-40 on the plug, and the recepticle at the PCM were employed.
wham.
Then, ten minutes later, it succumbed to its injuries.
It was turned on.
I kept my foot on the pedal at 2,000 RPM for a total of ten minutes (it wouldn’t die otherwise).
and it has been working flawlessly ever since.
DUE TO A WIRE SHORT IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, which I want to repair when the weather warms up, everything should be working properly now.
It is recommended that this be the first diagnostic procedure performed on this specific issue.
Despite the fact that it appears that a large number of PCMs were sold in an attempt to address the problem.
First, give it a go.
