The placement of the dome light relay on a 2008 Ford Ranger Hello everyone, it has been a long time since I have visited this forum, but I recently acquired a 2008 Ford Ranger, which has the frequent problem of the door switches not functioning properly. Can someone help me out? Previous owner appears to have taken the WD 40 spray method to the limit, since the switches on all four doors are ***** with oil from the spray.

I have unhooked all four switches as of last night, and I have discovered that my bottom door latch on the back doors does not seem to latch properly, but rather lazily hangs onto the striker, which allows the door and the switch to move ever so slightly while driving down the road, allowing the door ajar switch to activate and the dome light to turn on and off.

  1. The dome light is operational when the switch is turned on.
  2. I’d like it to be connected to the dome light system, if that’s possible.
  3. I don’t want to tap them in at this particular spot.
  4. All of the information I’m seeing online is for previous rangers or 2019 vehicles; there is nothing on the 2008 model.

Did you check the fuses if your overdrive button doesn’t work if be that’s it

Before you do anything get a muti meter and check to see if you have power at the socket with the transmission in reverse. It’s possible you have a bad socket. For an automatic transmission, the Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor is what sends a Back-Up signal to the PCM.Same as on my 1997.This is located on the lower LHS of the transmission.The Ford EVTM labels it as connector C1005, which has 12 pins, and the Backup Lamps Feed is pin 11 (color BK/PK).That other reverse sensor switch with 2 pins (posted by Fordzilla80) is for a manual transmission, not an automatic.This is the DTR on an automatic transmission:_1997 4×4 Mazda B4000 SE, Ext.Cab

Where Did the Ford Inertia Switch Go?

Think back to the amount of time you wasted trying to figure out why your freshly serviced Ford vehicle wouldn’t start? Then it was discovered that someone had accidentally bumped the Ford Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch during the reassembly process. You may have noticed that the switches with the red button have been removed from the environment. Look at what occurred to them to find out what happened to them. Those of you who are unfamiliar with the inertia switch should be aware that it is meant to cut off the fuel pump in the event of a collision in order to prevent a fire from occurring in the event a fuel line is broken.

When a collision occurred, this functioned well; but, when a significant enough bump was encountered, the switch might occasionally activate, leaving the driver stranded on the side of the road.

The inertia switch was reset by pressing the red button on the switch, which was easy to do.

Whether you liked it or despised it, Ford’s Inertia switch was an excellent safety feature.

The straightforward answer is that they haven’t.

Because the new switch is considerably more precise, it will be less likely to leave someone stuck if they strike a pothole in their vehicle.

The restraints control module is responsible for turning on the switch.

Ford service manuals state that if the vehicle shuts down after a collision as a result of this function, it may be restarted by first turning the ignition to the OFF position and then turning the ignition to the ON position.
