06 Impala – Service Traction control / Anti-lock braking system. Hello, I’m new to the forum and could need some assistance. I have a 06 Impala that all of a sudden is emitting the warning ‘Service traction control’ and the ABS light is illuminated in conjunction with this. Now, I’ve taken the car to a shop twice to have the error codes looked at, but nothing has come up as a result. I can see why it happened the first time; it was really cold here at the time, and I noticed the car calibrating the GP sensor, so I shrugged it off.
So far, my wife has only informed me of mistakes that appear on the dashboard, which has been the case until today!
Then there’s the service traction control / anti-lock braking system.
I was talking to a local GM dealer, and he told me that the wheel bearing is most likely the problem, and that if it isn’t that, the wiring harness is most likely the problem, all for a wonderful price of $520.00.

When you want to start your car, does the ABS/Traction Control light come on sometimes or all of the time, regardless of whether or not you use the traction control button? If you have a scanner, it will inform you that it is a component of a failing ABS system or that there is a problem with the grounding. Unbolt the lug and store the bolt and lug somewhere on your vehicle where you can clean them up later (you only have a few spots, the wire is not that long.) I utilized the car’s ECU/computer because it had been exposed due to the removal of my air filter and it was completely flat.
Clean the lug and bolt with the wire brush, being sure to get into the bolt hole as well.
Di-Electric Grease should be applied to both sides of the LUG, on the bolt, and in the bolt hole of the LUG.

If you have the optional resources, you will undoubtedly spare yourself the difficulties of having to go through this process again and again. Meanwhile, as the lug is being removed from the wire, heat up your soldering iron and add a little amount of solder to the area where the lug was crimped onto the wire, leaving a small amount of wire exposed on both sides of the crimp. Wrap the soldered wire in heat shrink tubing and wrap it tightly around it all the way to the end of the crimp where it is visible.

The service traction system, anti-lock braking system, and traction off lights all illuminate at the same time. If you turn off your automobile and reactivate it, everything will be restored. Has been in the shop (at a used car dealership) approximately six times. In addition, two wire harnesses were changed. They replaced the front sensors twice each, as well as the right rear sensor once. They are putting in tremendous effort. There is no payment for anything, with the exception of components only on the back one.

Other issues were brought to the dealer’s attention in September 2010. It was advised that the cost of repairing the abs/trac issue would exceed $2700.00. Pnowlen, Euless, TX, USproblem2: Vehicle was refused repair since it did not interfere with vehicle operation.
The ABS and traction control lights are both illuminated. Neither of them is in proper operating order. I’ve read numerous blogs on this identical dilemma, and it appears that we’re all experiencing problems, but we can’t seem to find out what they are. The vehicle was taken to a couple of mechanics, who determined that the problem was with the right front speed sensor. It might cost anything between $125 and $400 to repair! Is anyone aware of any recalls or other action being taken in this regard?
If anyone has any suggestions on how to resolve this, please let me know.
