F56 Headlamp, fog lamp, and DRL replacement

Along with the headlight, I wanted to replace the fog light bulb to match the same brilliant, white light that was coming from the headlight. H8 bulbs are used in the original equipment fog lights. However, H11 bulbs are significantly different in appearance from H8 bulbs in that they have a little different tab design and are 55W in power as opposed to 35W in power for H8 lights. H11 bulbs may often be used in H8 housing, and I wanted to experiment with a higher wattage bulb because they are commonly interchangeable with very little alterations to the housing.

Front wheel liner opening allows access to the fog light, daytime running light, and parking light, which are all contained in a single lamp housing.
If you turn the tire to the opposite side, you will have a better chance of getting to this opening.
The DRLs and parking lights are located on the top of the vehicle, while the fog lights are located on the bottom.
Despite the fact that the OEM fog light bulbs are H8 bulbs, I decided to experiment with brighter H11 bulbs instead.
Sylvania SilverStar ZXE H11 Bulbs (SilverStar ZXE H11 Bulbs) Both bulbs are practically identical in appearance: OEM H8 bulb on the right, and Sylvania SilverStar ZXE H11 bulb on the left.
The H11 bulb, on the other hand, is compatible with the current fog light housing and does not require any modifications.
Because of the change in tab design, the H11 bulb connector is installed with the connector facing up after being installed into the fog light bulb housing.

The light produced by the H11 bulb is whiter and brighter than the light produced by the OEM H8 bulb. OEM On the passenger side, there is a headlight and a fog light. On the driver’s side, there is a Sylvania SilverStar ZXE H4 headlight and an H11 fog light. Another tweak that is highly recommended!

Replace the DRL bulb today

I thought I’d provide a simple description of how to replace the daytime running light (DRL) bulb on a Promaster with my readers. There were just tutorials on YouTube for replacing the headlight bulb, which I couldn’t locate anywhere else. It’s possible that I didn’t discover it, or that because DRLs are only necessary in Canada, no one has documented it elsewhere. After removing the top and lower trim parts, the entire headlamp assembly must be removed in order to complete the procedure. This step may be learned by watching this video.

There are three Phillips screwdrivers needed for the trim pieces, and a 10mm socket is needed to tighten three bolts that hold the headlamp assembly in place.
This is a simple counter clockwise rotation that will reveal the headlight and DRL bulb.
It necessitates a little counter-clockwise turn, for which I had to employ pliers and exert considerable power.
It’s possible that you’ll have to use pliers again to re-insert.
Part number 4B06, and it cost me $7.45 + tax in Canada, for which I’m grateful.
However, there is a funny thing about it.
I hopped into the van and turned on the engine while releasing the parking brake (releasing the parking brake disables the DRLs), and the warning light illuminated on the dashboard, but the bulb was still dark!

When I glanced at the lamp and struck it with my fist, the light turned on! I imagine a dealer would charge at least an hour’s labor for this, because it is a rather straightforward task. Shaun

This step may be learned by watching the video below: You don’t have to be very careful while removing the bottom trim because the clips are prone to breaking; nonetheless, mine did not break during the procedure.

Using your hand, remove the big cover that covers the headlight and DRL bulb.

I was initially concerned that it might shatter anything, but it didn’t and then popped out of the hole it was in.

In order to change the bulb, simply take it out.

The procedure was rather simple and took around 30 minutes to complete.

Everything occurred to me while I was reassembling everything that I should have tested it first before putting it all back together.

When I stared at the lamp and hit it with my fist, the light turned on.
