SOLVED: Escape No Crank/ No Start + stuck in park

  • I came upon Eric’s amazing films on YouTube, which brought me to this site. Please bear with me since I am a complete and utter newbie when it comes to these things. My 2002 Ford Escape V6 has been operating properly until this morning, when it decided it didn’t want to start at all. I attempted to jump start the truck, but it would not turn over. This led me to believe that the battery in Escape was not the source of the problem. I tried each of the three keys, but to no avail. I even tried wriggling and pressing the key to see if there was a loose connection in the ignition switch, which turned out not to be the case. When I turn the key to the start/ON position, the usual dashboard lights and other indicators come on. According to expectations, the THEFT light will turn off after three seconds, indicating that the vehicle’s anti-theft system has been deactivated. When the key is turned to the ON position, the headlights are brilliant and do not fade at all. Except for the small click made by the starting relay, there is no discernible auditory sound. While the key is in the RUN position, a slight buzz can be heard coming from the radiator fan region, which looks to be coming from the engine. The battery has a voltage of 12.47V
  • I checked the terminals for corrosion, loose wires, and other issues, and everything appears to be in working order. I don’t have the funds to purchase a high-quality scantool that can read PIDs such as GENCOM and GENMON, as well as the voltage required.
