I’ve shattered the windshield of my. Telluride once more. Luckily for us, it’s on the passenger side of the windshield this time. This particular fracture begins at the A-Pillar and extends over the whole windshield surface. It was only when I got into my car to go somewhere that I saw the crack.

This time, I didn’t see or hear anything strike the windshield, and I was relieved.

If this trend continues, it will become prohibitively costly.

Here are some additional complaints logged with the NHTSA regarding the 2020 Kia Telluride Windshield Cracking Problems:

On 04102019, I made the decision to acquire the 2020 Kia Telluride. On the morning of March 3, 2019, a small pebble struck my windshield, right in the midst of the driver’s vision. I was going at 65 miles per hour on an interstate. The windshield had a large chip in it, which had spiderwebbed outward. The windshield was repaired or replaced when needed. When I got into my Kia on 09072019, I saw a big fracture evident from the A pillar on the passenger side, which is around 10 inches long. I never heard or saw anything that was very hot through the windshield.

  • It will have to be replaced at some point in the future.
  • I pulled over and fixed it.
  • Since June, I’ve been waiting for a replacement windshield to arrive.
  • Whatever it was that hit the windshield was so little that I didn’t even see it.

The windshield wipers were unable to lift the little amount of snow that had accumulated on the windshield. I was fortunate in that I was not on a busy route and was able to pull over. After clearing away the tiny quantity of snow, the wipers were able to operate properly once more.

The windshield of a car with less than 1500miles on it has several little chips in it because of poor vision. Several groups of telluride owners have reported the same issue on models from 2020 to 2022.

Powertrain Complaints

The Kia Telluride is positioned as a car that outperforms the competition in its class. In order to do this, the ride must be unbelievably pleasant, which it is apparent is not the case. OneNHTSAuser has provided an example of what many drivers experience while using this model. ‘I noticed a strong vibration when driving at highway speeds shortly after obtaining this AWD vehicle. The tremor begins when the vehicle reaches 67 mph and continues until the vehicle reaches 75 mph, at which point things begin to level out once more.

  • In the steering wheel, gas pedal, and bottom of the seats, there is a lot of tremor.
  • The tires have had road force adjusted by a local dealer, but there has been no change.
  • This has left me really upset with the Telluride as a result of it, but I am honestly disappointed with the Telluride as a whole.’ There aren’t any specific service bulletins that deal with this particular problem in particular.
  • However, they do not assert that there is an issue; rather, they just wish to evaluate it for ‘correct installation.’ They maintain that this action was only taken as a result of one incidence of decoupling being discovered during a routine examination of the facility.
  • Despite the fact that they do not intend to inform customers about the situation, they subsequently express concern about the potential consequences of this.
  • Upon returning to their car, drivers are informed that their vehicle has been impounded due to a safety concern.

Recall stuff, that’s what it sounds like. It goes without saying that the Telluride must live up to its name and provide visitors a wide range of experiences – waiting at the dealership is not one of them.

Here are some actual complaints logged with the NHTSA about the 2020 Kia Telluride Transmission Problems

On June 8th, I purchased a 2020 TELLURIDE SX AWD in Louisville, Kentucky. THERE WERE INTENSE VIBRATIONS IN THE REAR AREA OF THE CAR WHEN THE SPEED WAS BETWEEN 66 MPH AND 72 MPH AS I DRIVEN IT BACK TO CINCINNATI FROM MILWAUKEE. The first time, I took it to a service center in Cincinnati, and the second time, I had it balanced. DID NOT HELP IN ANY WAY. After two attempts, the service department kept it for a couple of days and then called KIA TECHLINE. THEY INSTRUCTED US TO CHECK OUT OTHER TELLURIDES IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DELIVERY TRUCK.

  1. KIA TECHLINE DISMISSED THE CASE, stating that everything appeared to be OK.
  2. Tried it three times and got the same result.
  7. 5) KIA instructed the service department to replace the rear drive shaft.
  8. This vehicle was purchased on June 8th, and the problem was evident immediately.
  9. It took a third of a year to get KIA to acknowledge that there was a problem, and then another third of a year to try to find a solution to it.

Since I was aware of the problem when I purchased my vehicle, I expressly requested that my agent provide me with a quote for a replacement window for that price.

When I had my BMW serviced before, I did not indicate that I wanted original equipment glass, and the shop used aftermarket.

It goes without saying that it looked terrible from the outside and that the sensors were ineffective.

Because of the sensors and HUD in the Kia, I am pretty certain that you will receive a KIA OE window, whether it is installed by Kia, Safelite, or any other independent company.

I now have scratches on the passenger side of my windshield caused by the wipers, which can’t be explained by anything other than the fact that the glass is of poor quality.

KIA is aware that there is a problem with the windshields, as has been demonstrated.

When it comes to chips, absolutely, you may get them corrected at no charge.

It normally works, but if it’s in your field of vision, you’ll notice it right away.

There is no polishing or sanding that can be done to improve the quality of poor glass.

An Allstate customer had a new OEM window fitted by Safelite yesterday and calibrated for 999, which was paid in full by Allstate.

It is far thinner than the majority of the windshields they had on their rack.

The remaining automobile windows are made of toughened glass.

If you ever find yourself in a dire position and need to get out of your car, utilize the rear windows instead of the front ones since they are not laminated.

Likewise, I’m expecting for improved surface hardness and resistance to chipping and scratching in the near future.

Approximately 3/4 of the way up the glass, it measured little less than a quarter of an inch in diameter.

It will be replaced with Safelight when it has gone through the insurance process.

As a result of the remarks, I believe that I will be better off with a replacement windshield.

It’s impossible to tell if it was rock or just cracked.

When I woke up this morning, there was a fairly lengthy crack running from the top border of the windshield to around the center of the windshield.

I’m a little miffed because I’ve only owned her for a little more than two months.

Bring it to the dealer, who will procure OEM glass and, more than likely, contract out to Safelite to install it.

However, I have consumed two additional chips since then, and given that I have been on the highway for almost two hours, I am really dissatisfied with myself.

This is really ludicrous.

I’m looking for some advise before I go through the insurance company to get the chips fixed.

Even while the letter did not state that it was a ‘one and done’ customer satisfaction program, it did state that ‘KMA would want to give Telluride customers with goodwill repair supportshould they experience the issue while we continue to investigate.’ The chip/crack should be replaced a second time if it meets all of the requirements of the replacement program.

  • See CS 9991 201911 – ‘Notice to Dealers Regarding Windshield Replacement.’ My personal opinion When a new incidence occurs, I would take it back to Kia and get it repaired as mentioned in the letter.
  • There has been no official indication that the problem has been resolved.
  • It was my hope that it would.
  • My original windshield is still in my possession.
  • In addition to micro-chips, which all vehicles receive, I have accumulated far more in 18,000 miles than my 2012 Escape had accumulated in 120,000 miles.

I’m almost wishing for a chip crack so that I may have it replaced with a new one. Messages 21Points for Reaction7Points3 Unfortunately, we do not wish to wait for the outcome of the litigation to be determined. One of the chips is directly in front of the driver’s line of sight.

2020 Kia Telluride Defective Windshield Investigation

MigliaccioRathod LLP is now examining the 2020 Kia Telluride as well as its sister vehicle, the 2020 Hyundai Palisade, for faulty windshields that are readily damaged and prone to breaking when impacted. Several owners have reported windshields that fracture very readily after being damaged by tiny pebbles or for no apparent cause on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website and numerous Kia and Hyundai forums. The crack gradually proceeds in a spiderweb pattern, causing it to spread further down the glass, resulting in owners having to pay as much as $1,500 for a new windshield.

Have you noticed a crack in the windshield of your 2020 Kia Telluride or 2020 Hyundai Palisade?

When purchasing a new automobile, it is important to select a vehicle that is safe and trustworthy; but, issues can arise even in the best of circumstances. However, while the Kia Telluride, a well-known sport utility vehicle, has many excellent features, it has received certain consumer complaints that all prospective buyers should be aware of before making a purchase. Currently, there are no known consumer complaints regarding the Kia Telluride. Yes, a number of complaints have been lodged about the Kia Telluride, including the following:

  • The exterior lighting does not have enough wattage to provide adequate sight at night. When there is transmission trouble, there is vibration in the steering wheel. When traveling on the interstate, the acceleration is poor
  • When driving, there is wind noise and sound difficulties. Windshields are readily chipped

Fortunately, in this article, we will examine each of these Kia Telluride issues in further detail and give you with some insight into what you can do to resolve them. You may use this information to help you make the best purchasing selection for your specific requirements. Make sure to look through your Vehicle History report as well.

What to Know About the Kia Telluride?

The Telluride is a mid-size crossover SUV with a sporty appearance. The car made its debut in 2019 and has proven to be a popular choice among consumers. It is the biggest car in the Kia portfolio in the United States, and it is a five-door vehicle with plenty of interior space. For the 2019 model, it is also known for its strong engine (a 3.8L, Lambda II V6 GDi 8-speed automatic) and excellent fuel economy. With every new car, there is a certain amount of danger associated with the unknown in the long run, but this vehicle has been constructed with some exceptional characteristics.

Key Problems with the Kia Telluride

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has identified a number of possible issues with the Kia Telluride that need to be addressed. The following are examples of what I mean:

Exterior Lighting

The external lighting of the car is the subject of a significant number of consumer complaints. Several customers have complained that the vehicle’s lights do not glow sufficiently or correctly when the vehicle is being driven. Specific problems include those relating to the front corner lights, which are a source of contention. When driving in low- or non-lit locations, it is sometimes difficult to see clearly out of the car. A large number of drivers have expressed concern about their ability to see well in these low-light conditions.

They point out that when a vehicle rounds a corner, just a small portion of the road is illuminated.

A variety of trim choices have been reported to have poor lighting on the sides of the car.

Vibration in the Steering Wheel

The gearbox of the Kia Telluride has led to various complaints pertaining to its operation. Some drivers have reported that they experience severe shaking in the steering wheel when driving. They may also feel it in their feet as they hit the gas pedal to boost their speed. They state that this often occurs when they are traveling at speeds ranging from 60 to 80 miles per hour on the highway. Some people have reported hearing a buzzing sound emanating from the interior of the car when experiencing this issue.

Transmission Slipping on the Freeway

Another transmission-related issue that might arise is the vehicle’s transmission sliding forward or backward. When this fails, the RPMs increase, but there is no power being sent to the drivetrain. When this occurs, the motorist has reported coasting on the highway in certain instances. Others have reported experiencing very little acceleration, especially at low speeds and even when the RPMs on the dashboard indicator rise in the red zone. This can result in the driver being unable to maintain the required speed, increasing the likelihood of a collision.

Wind Noise and Sound

Another issue that has been raised is the growing amount of wind noise that is heard inside the car. This is a typical criticism leveled about numerous SUV models. According to some drivers, the interior of the car sounds like there is a lot of air inside it, or a whistling may be heard inside it. When the vehicle’s speed increases, the volume of the sound increases. This can be a source of distraction for the driver, but it does not appear to be a source of concern for the general drivability of the vehicle at this time.

Windshield Chips

Another common criticism about the Kia Telluride is that the windshield appears to chip quite quickly, which is understandable given its age. This includes minor chip marks in the glass panel as well as scratches on the glass surface. Drivers in other vehicles have reported difficulties with the windshield cracking even while the vehicle is not in use. One motorist, for example, complained that the windshield glass had cracked overnight while the car was still being secured. Some drivers have also reported many chips over their whole windshield, rather than just one.

Some people claim to have driven on the highway, while others claim not to have. There has been no statement from Kia regarding any known flaws in the windshield, but it is something for which drivers should be covered by a guarantee when purchasing a new car.

What Should You Do Before You Buy a Kia Telluride?

The prospect of purchasing a car that is off of a fairly new production line might leave one feeling anxious about the outcome. That being said, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website is a great resource for learning as much as can about the car, as well as any other consumer complaints that have been lodged against it. To read about other drivers’ concerns, simply enter their VIN number or their car’s make, model, and year into the search box. If you discover a condition that is concerning, you may also look into the recalls that have been issued for that car.

If you are unduly worried, you should call Kia’s customer care representatives at 1-800-333-4542 to learn more about the matter before making a purchase.

Since the car was delivered 14 months ago, I’ve experienced three instances of the windshield cracking. Kia acknowledged the problem, but has not given a proper ‘repair’ for it, and has now stated that they are not liable for replacements and that I should approach my insurance provider. The fractures appear instantly after a contact with a rock or other debris, and they spread quickly after the impact, making it impossible to fix them in time. I got my first one replaced via insurance, and Kia replaced my second one, but now they are refusing to take responsibility for the first.

When traveling at highway speeds (more than 50 mph), the windows will not be able to fully roll back up. It appears that the pressure exerted by the speed prevents them from shutting entirely. I had to slow down to around 35 mph in order to roll them back up again. Similar issues have been posted on Kia owner forums, which I have read. Parts: VISIBILITY/WIPER

High-intensity beams will not work. I changed out the light bulbs. This did not resolve the issue. Relay and fuse have been replaced. This did not resolve the issue. I took it to the dealer. The service technician looked to be perplexed. His sole recommendation was to replace both headlight assemblies, which would cost more than $2000, or to just wait until Kia declared a recall, as he was unable to pinpoint the specific source of the problem. On the 16th of this month, I purchased my 2020 Kia Telluride. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM KIA. WHAT IS IT? GIFTING? This is a REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD as a result of certain customers experiencing defective glass that just breaks without cause. MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED WHILE I WAS JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY IN THE EARLY JANUARY OF 2020. KIA REPLACED IT WITH A NEW ONE.

On March 23, 2011, I was driving when I saw a little chip in my windshield. After an hour of sitting immobile, the chip had grown to 7′. After a day of sitting motionless, it had spread half-way over my windshield at the end of the day. I phoned the dealership closest to me, and the earliest available appointment was on March 31st, 21. Parts:VISIBILITY

The contact is the owner of a 2020 Kia Telluride. THE CONTACT REPORTED THAT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED WITHOUT ANY NOTICE AT ALL. When the vehicle was sent to KIA of Wilmington (1603 Pennsylvania Ave, Wilmington, DE 19806, (302) 656-3100), it was discovered that the windshield needed to be replaced. This was the first time this had happened. However, once the vehicle was repaired, the failure recurred three more times, resulting in a total of three failures. IN THIS CASE, THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE.

It was around 30,000 miles when the failure occurred.

The electrical system in my 2020 Kia Telluride has been malfunctioning since I purchased it in June of this year, three months after purchasing it. THE PROBLEM BEGAN WITH MY BACKUP CAMERA GLITCHING/NOT BEING VISIBLE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKERING, AND MY HEAT NOT WORKING PROPERLY AT THE OUTSET. AND THEN IT QUICKLY ELEVATED TO MULTIPLE EMERGENCY LIGHTS BEING DISPLAYED IN MY DASHBOARD WHEN I WAS DRIVING OR STOPPED. I contacted the dealership and was informed that if the codes were not active, they would not be able to service the vehicle.

On the fifth occasion, the EMERGENCY LIGHTS came on and my vehicle shut down while I was driving, causing me to lose control and lose my brakes.

In spite of the fact that I provided over 70 pages of documentation, KIA would not accept my car back and has denied my claim. SINCE OCTOBER 19, 2020, MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A TOTAL OF 84 DAYS. Parts:VISIBILITY/WIPER

I purchased the vehicle in February 2020, and since the beginning of this winter, a high-pitched whistle noise can be heard coming from the engine bay during cold starts in the morning, particularly when it is frigid. The dealership has attempted to identify the problem twice, but has been unable in locating the cause of the noise. Kia declined to provide any more assistance, instead advising me to wait until the situation worsened or anything truly broke. Kia is not equipped to diagnose this type of noise, which might be an indication of another engine or air intake problem.

The lights won’t dim; the same thing happened about three weeks ago; I drove the car the next night and the lights worked well; I drove it last night and the lights wouldn’t dim or brighten; I couldn’t tell what they were stuck on; the interior indercator functioned perfectly. On Friday morning, I was travelling at around 40-45 mph when I heard a *ping*, which I assumed was a bit of road salt (i.e. We received a lot of snow this week, and one of the flakes struck my passenger-side windshield. I didn’t see any damage to the glass at the time, and I didn’t notice any damage on my way back home. When I pulled into my driveway, I saw a fracture in the windshield that measured 8 inches. It was a complete surprise. Furthermore, it is aggravating. A very little piece from that morning’s ‘ping’ must have caused the cracking to spread even more widely.

THIS CAR IS PERFECT FOR ME. I REPLACED MY 2016 LEXUS GL 460 WITH A 2020TellurideEX V6, a low-mileage previously used vehicle that I found at a dealership because I felt it compared well in every way to the LEXUS, which I had purchased new, and because I felt it was a better value. Unfortunately, unlike other people who have complained about the same lighting issue, I did not take this car for a nighttime test drive. However, when I did finally take it for a nighttime drive, I was blown away! As a driver, I can honestly say that the headlights on this vehicle are the worst I have ever encountered.

I was unable to locate my destination since the house numbers on the mailboxes, as well as the street sign, were not lit brightly enough to be read.

But, what’s worse, I came dangerously close to colliding with a pedestrian who was walking down the side of the road.

As soon as I realized there was a problem with the lighting system, I took the car to a local dealership where the technician checked the bulbs and the way they were installed and determined there was no problem.

After around 10 or 15 minutes of driving, both the adaptive cruise control and the front collision warning system will cease to function properly. Even after cleaning the sensor, nothing appears to be working. It will clean itself at random intervals, but it will also cease after a period of time. This occurs both on local roads and on the interstate highway system.
