HI, The power steering had failed twice on the prior owner’s G6, which I learned after I purchased my new G6. The dealership would not provide coverage for my situation. Specifically, I’m wondering if anyone knows what is causing this lack of steering power. 2011-2013 power steering failure recall

I took our 2013 SEL to our local dealer for a transmission fluid replacement last week, on September 25th, and received excellent service. The mileage was 159,500 +/- a few hundred miles, which was over and beyond the required servicing mileage. There were no problems with the transportation service. Our dealer is around 30 miles away from our home. We encountered a ‘Power Steering Assist Failure’ after returning from the transmission repairs. We were driving back to our house when this happened.

I used manual steering to get the car the last 8 miles to the residence. We unpacked the car and, after about 15 minutes of sitting in the parking lot, I turned on the ignition and, miracle of miracles, the power steering worked! With this knowledge in hand, I phoned the Ford dealership, but they had no response. I drove the car back to the dealer to have it checked out since I was a little concerned that the Mrs. could be experiencing anything similar on her own. After two days in the shop, I was told it needed a new rack and pinion. (And the power steering worked the entire way.) Rack and pinion valued at $2200.00 dollars. When I inquired as to the nature of the steering problem, all I could get out of them was that the power steering module had ‘lost connection’ with the vehicle. I paid my dues and acquired the position. Since a diagnosis of ‘lost communication’ does not sit well with me, I will refrain from addressing it further. In terms of the actual repair, I will say that the dealership has stepped up their game, with the work being completed quite swiftly and on the same day. A special thanks to the dealer for going above and above. Flex was created on 06/12 and was not affected by the PS Recall. In any case, I did file a formal complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and I strongly advise anyone who is outside of the recall period to do the same. It is my sincere wish that the recall will be prolonged. 2010 Mercury Milan Power Steering Stopped Working

One day, the warning light ‘Service Power Steering Soon’ illuminated, and a few miles later, the light ‘Service Power Steering Now’ illuminated. Transferred to a nearby Ford dealer, who changed something to make PS return until the next time I turned on the ignition, at which point it was out once more. They said it was due to the fact that my tires were so worn. When I spoke with the Lincoln dealership where I purchased the vehicle, they stated that they had never heard of this rationale.

So, in September of this year, the steering on my 2010 Mercury Milan stopped working for the first time. Towing it back to my hometown, where I reside, cost me 416.00, and then Huff Ford charged me about 100.00 for reprogramming the steering system. Then, on February 14th, 2021, it stopped operating once again! Huff said once more that it was not covered by the recall, despite the fact that the newer Mercury Milan steering is. The vehicle is not operable. I had to leave it in the state it was in when it stopped operating.

Ford goods have always been a favorite of mine, but I will not be purchasing another one in the near future.

After taking my car to the dealership where it was purchased for routine maintenance such as an oil change and tire rotation, A D V E R T I S E M E N T SI was not experiencing any problems. Just as I was getting ready to leave the parking lot, it started tugging to the right. It has never done anything like this before. I figured that was due to the fact that they had pumped up some of the tires. When the ‘service power steering now’ notice flashed, I was roughly 75 miles from home and had just been driving for a few days.

  • I didn’t have any power steering at that moment.
  • This is unquestionably a health and safety hazard.
  • Surprisingly, the power steering components in the current model are identical to those in the previous model from 2010.
  • Nothing short of ludicrous can be said about this.
  • Since the beginning of 2015, a power steering fault has been noted.
  • I am convinced that Ford is discriminating against owners of 2010 vehicles because the fault is same on both versions, in my opinion.

During a recent trip to the grocery store, the steering felt a little weird. I parked the car and headed to the grocery shop. Coming out of the store, I discovered that the power steering had completely failed. It was difficult to get out of the parking place. The notice ‘Service Power Steering Now’ appeared on the screen. It cost $2100 to fix the automobile, but I had no option because I needed it and was still paying payments on it. I’m really sad I bought this vehicle; this isn’t the first time there has been a recall on other vehicles of the same model year or one year newer, but my vehicle was not covered for the same faults as the others.

Ford is aware that the power steering assist on the 2010 Milan is defective. They’ve been aware of it for quite some time. When individuals are driving, they are aware that the system freezes, and that it finally stops operating altogether. like the dashboard of my vehicle! The 2010 Fusion, which is the same thing as a 2010 Mercury Milan, is currently being investigated by the government. They must investigate and correct the situation. The repair would cost me $1,400, which would come out of my pocket.

I picked up the automobile from my wife at her place of employment. Upon entering the parking lot, I started the car, but as I attempted to turn, the steering wheel became stuck, and I saw a warning on the dashboard that said ‘Power Steering Assist Fault.’ I took it to Ford, and they charged me $100 simply to assess the problem, and then they told me it would cost $2,000.00 to fix it themselves. Having done some investigation, it appears that a large number of people are experiencing this difficulty.

Having done a lot of study, it appears that Ford is exploiting this as a means to generate a lot of revenue. In the electronic steering system, there is a fault that will cause the vehicle to lock out, and there is no way to correct the problem without taking it to the dealer.

It appears that in the majority of situations, they state that the steering has to be changed and charge $2,000.00, which I suppose is a reasonable round sum for them.

The power steering went gone all of a sudden. The advance track warning light illuminated, and the message ‘service power steering now’ was shown. Warning signs, such as bells, are used. I took the computer to my local dealer, where they tried multiple times to fix it, but it was still not working. Each time, the power steering failed to function properly. The issue I’m having is that other Milan 2011 models as well as Ford Focus 2010 and 2011 models are experiencing the same issue and are covered by the recall, but Milan 2010 is not.

Ford should be embarrassed by their actions.

Despite the fact that it was one of the nicest automobiles I’d ever owned, my Ford Taurus never gave me any trouble.

As I was taking my son to school this morning, I began to receive fake alerts that I needed to service advancetrac and power steering as soon as possible. I pulled over and switched off my car for a few minutes, as instructed by the instructions, only to have my car start back on with warning sounds to ‘SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW.’ I had completely lost all power steering, and it seemed as though the steering had been stuck. I was fortunate in that I had roadside help and was able to have my car taken to a nearby dealership.

I hung up immediately.

The power steering gear issue is not currently covered by any recall, and there are no plans to cover it in the future, despite the fact that the issue was covered for the equivalent 2011-2013 Ford Fusions and 2011 Mercury Milans. Due to the fact that they were made in a different country, the 2010 are not protected. They want you to pay $99 to a dealer who will spend the entire day working on it and doing diagnostic tests to see if the problem is linked to the recall or not. Then you must file a recall claim with Ford in order for them to consider covering the repair under the terms of the recall.

  1. I am a cancer patient and a single mother.
  2. When I originally spoke with a person from Ford, she was quite accommodating and gave me the feeling that Ford is concerned about its customers’ satisfaction.
  3. She stated that she will submit the claim to the recall department as soon as possible and hoped for positive results.
  4. As a result, the next representative from Ford filed a claim for hardship to assist in paying for part of the repairs that were necessary.
  5. Customers who return to the store are obviously unimportant to them.

Milan Voga 3.0L V6

This issue is not currently covered by any recall, and there are no plans to cover it in the future, despite the fact that the equivalent 2011-2013 Ford Fusions and 2011 Mercury Milans were covered in the past. The year 2010 is excluded from coverage due to the fact that they were made in a different country. They want you to pay a charge to a dealer so that they may spend days and days on it to determine whether or not the problem is linked to the recall or not. Then you must file a recall claim with Ford in order for them to consider covering the repair under the terms of the recall.

Ford and the few service supervisors I’ve spoken to about this have been nothing but unpleasant, telling me that it must be something else, despite the fact that they haven’t even looked at the car since they ‘don’t want to’ look at it.

If this were an undiscovered issue with these automobiles, I would find a way to pay, but since this is a known issue, it is unjust that I am have to jump through these hoops when others are not need to do so for the exact same issue.

A simple and straightforward procedure in which I should have no involvement other than dropping off and picking up my vehicle, and the dealer needs no more than 5 minutes to turn in the paperwork and wait for their check. -Nicole G., Hopkins, Michigan, United States
