The Defect
22nd of September, 2018 in Lilburn, Georgia Due to an air bag module malfunction that enhances the risk of harm for passengers in the passenger seat in the event of an accident, Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2019 INFINITI QX50 cars nationwide. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s safety recall report, the recall encompasses slightly more than 1,600 cars built between July 4, 2018 and August 24, 2018, with the likelihood of a problem occurring in any given vehicle being one percent.
Timeline of Events
A knee air bag cover on the passenger’s side of the vehicle disconnected from the air bag module during deployment in August 2018, while a supplier was performing a low temperature lot acceptance test at the time. Two weeks after the supplier began an inquiry, the factory and supplier placed all passenger-side knee air bag modules on a two-week quarantine period. After conducting an examination, it was discovered that certain passenger-side knee air bag modules had been manufactured with a rip seam thickness that was out of specification, and that the knee air bag cushion had been folded improperly.
Nissan discovered the impacted cars and decided to launch a voluntary recall campaign to replace the knee air bag module on the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
The Solution
The passenger-side knee air bag module, as well as the module trim cover, will be replaced with a new one by the dealer at no charge. INFINITI will contact owners, and shops will conduct the replacement at no cost to the customer. Insurance for rental cars will be provided up to a maximum of $180. According to the recall schedule, it will commence on October 22, 2018, and the Campaign ID is PC644. Owners can reach INFINITI customer care at 1-800-662-6200, or they can call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more information (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
The name of Sean Reyes is derived from the Spanish word for “sean,” which means “sean.” Nissan has recalled over 1,600 Infiniti vehicles from the 2019 model year due to defective air bag modules.
Infiniti Recalls FX35, FX45 SUVs for Faulty Airbags
2008 Infiniti FX45 | Image courtesy of the manufacturer Patrick Masterson contributed to this article. 11th of March, 2021 Airbag recalls are among the most serious of all vehicle recalls, and whenever we’ve seen one in recent years, it’s almost always been linked to the big, years-long Takata airbag disaster. As an example, Nissan, the parent company of Infiniti, has issued a recall for more than 26,000 FX35 and FX45 SUVs because the airbags were folded improperly, which is an oddity in this day and age.
- The recall affects Nissan’s premium brand’s FX35 and FX45 vehicles from model years 2006 to 2008.
- That group of replacements has an airbag cushion that has been folded improperly, raising internal pressure and increasing the danger of damage upon deployment.
- The repair will be done at no cost.
- Infiniti will begin notifying owners on April 18, but those with additional questions can call Infiniti at 800-662-6200, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit the company Additional Information From Cars.com:

INFINITI Vehicles, Trucks and SUVs: Reviews, Pricing, and Specs
Infiniti is a luxury automobile manufacturer based in Japan. Infiniti aims to reach premium status by infusing its vehicles and SUVs with lively performance as well as additional luxury features, despite the fact that the vast majority of its products are similar to those offered by parent firm Nissan. When the brand was first introduced, it was for the 1990 model year. Its goal then, as it is now, was to develop high-end cars for the American market that would not otherwise have fit into Nissan’s more widespread image, such as the Nissan Titan.
- Infiniti debuted with two cars in its first full year of operation: the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible, all of which were sold in limited quantities.
- As the 1990s progressed, Infiniti gradually increased the number of automobiles available in its portfolio.
- In its day, the car’s 278-horsepower V8 engine was the best in its class.
- By the late 1990s, Infiniti had introduced the QX4, a sport utility vehicle based on the Nissan Pathfinder.
- Despite the fact that Infiniti’s sales have been continuously increasing, the brand continues to lag behind both Lexus and Acura in terms of appeal.
- However, it was the debut of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that provided Infiniti the much-needed lift and distinctive direction that the company had been lacking.
- It was quickly followed by the FX35/FX45, a crossover SUV that combined furious acceleration and sports-car handling with the practicality of a wagon to great effect.
- In addition, Infiniti has released the M Hybrid sedan, which is the company’s first hybrid car.
Infiniti Recalls 26,000 Vehicles Due to Airbag Tear
Infiniti is recalling 26,000 vehicles after a test revealed that the front passenger airbags might rip due to internal pressure when they deployed when they were deployed. A recall has been issued for some FX35 and FX45 models manufactured between 2006 and 2008.
Infiniti FX35 and FX45 cars manufactured from 2006 to 2008 that got the front passenger-side airbag module as part of the Takata airbag system are subject to a safety recall reported in Safety Recall Report 21V-139. 20V-008 is the recall number for this product.
The Defect
When the front passenger airbags activate, they have the potential to rip. This is due to internal pressure from the airbag cushions not being folded properly, which causes them to rupture.
The Remedy
Starting on April 18, owners will get a letter in the mail instructing them to drive their car to a dealership for a free replacement of the front passenger airbag module. Enter your 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) into the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website to see whether your car has any open recalls that need to be addressed. Every day, we at Terrell Hogan represent victims of personal injury and wrongful death in their pursuit of justice, and the lawsuits we have brought have resulted in safety improvements as a result of our efforts.
We feel that it is critical to make every effort to prevent injuries and tragic deaths.

What are the latest Infiniti recalls?
A number of Infiniti recalls for safety reasons have been issued in recent years. Some of them, particularly those that stand out, are still in progress. Keep in mind that not all Infiniti recalls are created equal. Some are a simple issue of mislabelling, which may be easily rectified. Others are more complicated. Others, on the other hand, are significantly more serious manufacturing faults that would need extensive rework to correct. Even if the object in issue is still repairable, it may have passed the point of no return and will need to be replaced immediately.

Direct adaptive steering problem | Around 28,100 units of 2014 – 2016 Infiniti Q50 are included under this recall. | During rare occasions, the adaptive steering’s control unit can be unresponsive when an action is performed and the vehicle’s motion may barely change when turning. | Infiniti dealers will try to reprogram the system’s control unit to fix the problem of affected vehicles. |
Is my Infiniti affected by the Takata Airbag Recall?
Infiniti, like its parent company Nissan, is included in the Takata airbag recall as a result of the Takata airbag recall. The Takata Airbag Recall is the greatest recall in the history of the United States. It is estimated that around 40 million automobiles are affected by this ongoing recall. In the end, it was discovered that the Takata airbags were faulty and might endanger the safety of those who ride in the car. The potentially lethal combination of severe heat and humidity can deteriorate the quality of these airbags over time to the point that, when they are deployed, they may explode.
Anyone who comes into contact with the weapon may suffer significant harm or perhaps death. The Infiniti automobiles from 2001 to 2010 that are affected by the Takata recall are listed below.
Model | Model Years Covered |
Infiniti I30 | 2001 |
Infiniti QX4 | 2002 – 2003 |
Infiniti I35 | 2002 – 2004 |

Can I search recalls for an Infiniti using a license plate number?
What if you don’t have access to the VIN number? Owners can substitute their Infiniti plate number for the VIN code if they want not to use the latter. It operates in a manner comparable to a VIN check. In the automobile history report, it connects the license plate number to the vehicle identification number (VIN) and all other linked data. Run a Recall Lookup by License Plate Number to see if there are any recalls.
Why should I run an Infiniti Recall Check?
Owners are accountable for the safety of their property. The vendor, like the buyer, has a legal responsibility to be truthful in their advertising and to offer vehicles that will not endanger the lives of others. If there is a need to know the safety quality of a vehicle, third parties may potentially profit from this information.
- Infiniti safety problems should be looked for. Over 300,000 Nissan and Infiniti cars were added to the recall list for defective Takata airbags at the start of 2020, bringing the total number of vehicles affected by the recall to over 600,000. Infiniti is responsible for half of the vehicles featured in this follow-up
- Check to see if Infiniti complies with federal vehicle safety regulations. Carry out in-depth diagnostics on your automobile. Due to the fact that you cannot visually inspect and test the vehicle in its entirety, you will never be completely certain of anything. It saves you the inconvenience of having to return to the repair shop
- It increases buyer confidence. You must go beyond making only verbal assertions. Make a point of walking the walk. A combination of a car display and written verification can help to increase the trust of a car customer. It makes it easier to support assertions without the need to invent justifications
- It also makes it easier to resolve disputes quickly. Infiniti recalls should not be taken lightly. The fact that you are receiving these warnings is far from bothersome
- Rather, it is something you should seriously consider for your personal protection.

MODEL | MODEL YEAR |

Reason for Recall
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) actuator in some of the cars covered by this recall may leak brake fluid, which is dangerous. However, the leak has the potential to cause an electrical short, which, in rare cases, might result in a fire.
What You Should Do
The following actions should be taken if the ABS warning signal in your vehicle (seen below) continues to illuminate continuously for longer than ten (10) seconds after engine start: Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning light on the dashboard I urge you to immediately stop driving your car and contact Nissan Roadside Assistance at 1-800-225-2476 so that they can arrange for towing your vehicle to a Nissan dealership at no cost to you.
Until your car has been examined and repaired by a Nissan Dealership, you should park it outside, away from other vehicles and structures.

Frequently Asked Questions
As a result of a supplier issue that has now been resolved, the ABS actuator pump seal in some cars may leak braking fluid, resulting in the electric circuit board failing to work properly. If this occurs, the ABS warning bulb will illuminate and remain illuminated on the instrument panel for an extended period of time. Although it is unlikely that a fire will develop from this state, if the vehicle is run in this condition, the leak may cause an electric short. In rare cases, a fire may happen from this condition.
What will be the corrective action for this voluntary safety recall campaign?
The dealer will check the serial number of the ABS actuator and, if the serial number is compromised, the dealer will replace the actuator with a new one at no charge. You will not be charged anything if your vehicle has been examined as part of a prior recall (16V-636), and your ABS actuator will be replaced with a new one at no additional cost to you.
What model year vehicles are involved?
Certain Nissan Maxima, Nissan Murano, and Nissan Pathfinder models from the 2016-2017 model years are affected.
Are you experiencing this condition on any other Nissan (or Infiniti) models?
There are replacement parts available. For an inspection and repair, make an appointment with your local Nissan dealership.
I previously paid to have my ABS actuator replaced, can I be reimbursed for the repair?
It is possible that you will be entitled for compensation if you have paid to have your ABS actuator changed as a result of the warning bulb being on.
In the event that you have any doubts about your eligibility for compensation, please contact Nissan Consumer Affairs at (800) 867-7669.
Will a rental vehicle be provided while the dealer is servicing the vehicle?
If your vehicle’s ABS Actuator has to be changed as a result of the examination, a rental car will be supplied while the components are being ordered.
Is my vehicle safe to drive until it is repaired?
If your vehicle’s ABS Warning Light is illuminated, do not use it; instead, park it outdoors away from structures and other automobiles. Nissan Roadside Assistance can arrange for your car to be transported to a Nissan dealership by dialing 1-800-225-2476. The ABS Warning Light will not illuminate if the ABS actuator is not malfunctioning. However, Nissan recommends that owners bring their vehicle to a Nissan dealer as soon as possible to have the ABS actuator evaluated.
Is there anything owners can do to lessen this condition?
As soon as you discover that your vehicle is subject to this recall, take it to a dealer for an examination as soon as possible. Towing your vehicle to the dealership should be arranged by calling Nissan Roadside Assistance at 1-800-225-2476. If the ABS warning lamp continues to illuminate after starting the vehicle, stop driving it immediately, park it outside away from structures and other vehicles, and have your vehicle towed to the dealership by calling Nissan Roadside Assistance at 1-800-225-2476.
Is there any charge for the repair?
No, the client will not be charged for the repair because both the parts and labor will be provided free of charge.
Will I have to take my vehicle back to the selling dealer to have the service performed?
No, the recall effort can be carried out by any Nissan dealer who has been allowed to do so.

NHTSA: Takata-Related Recall Is A Serious Matter
Takata was required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to begin a countrywide recall effort to repair the faulty airbags in 2014. The campaign began in 2014. Hundreds of thousands of automobiles were voluntarily recalled by ten automobile manufacturers at the time. Millions of others, on the other hand, remained unrepaired. Many firms have issued recalls in order to give a temporary remedy to this problem over the years, since manufacturers lacked the requisite components to repair all of the vehicles that were affected.
Owners of recalled cars are urged to act quickly in order to avoid potentially fatal incidents from occurring.
Please contact an authorized dealer if you are one of the drivers who has been affected in order to have your vehicle fixed for free. Follow this link for further information on the recall and how to have the problem repaired as soon as possible.
