Your point is well taken; I should not have bled the brakes this time because it was simply pads and rotors that needed replacing. When I turned the right rear wheel, I heard the identical staccato sounds you described, and that’s when I noticed the key was on my bench next to the car, indicating that the car was intelligent enough to do something, albeit I’m not sure what.
