It is important not to allow the battery run completely flat because this can harm the cells, but it is also important not to overcharge them. The practice of continuing to charge after the terminal voltage reaches 14 volts results in gassing and will deplete the electrolyte level in sealed batteries, even if the battery is not overcharged. If possible, use a smart charger, such as the C-Tek or a similar model (the C-Tek is my personal favorite)
