- P182E Engine Trouble Code Meaning of P182E engine trouble code is a kind of powertrain trouble code and when the check engine light comes P182E code on the first you should check is the gas cap. Pull over, retighten it, and take a look at the cap to see if it has any cracks in it.
How do I fix error code P182E?
Fix P182E. Set the park brake and chock the wheels. Verify the transmission range select lever is in the park position. Verify the transmission manual shift lever is in the park position.
What does P182E code mean?
Code P182E indicates a problem with the transmission range selector – meaning the transmission doesn’t know what gear is selected. It could be as simple as a bad shifter cable, or a faulty transmission range selector switch.
What are the codes for check engine light?
The most common diagnostic codes for check engine lights are:
- Codes: P0171 – P0175 → Deals with sensing your oxygen levels.
- Codes: P0300 – P0305 → Deal with engine misfires.
- Codes: P0411, P0440, P0442, P0446, P0455 → Deal with the evaporative system.
- Code: P0401→ Deal with exhaust gas recirculation.
What is an internal mode switch?
The internal mode switch is a sliding contact switch connected to the valve body. Its purpose is to let the TCM know what gear you selected, based on an electrical signal that it sends.
What does po700 mean?
P0700 is set when the PCM detects a malfunction in the transmission control system. This malfunction causes the vehicle to set a Check Engine Light and trigger a failsafe mode. Once the failsafe mode is set it will remain until the fault is repaired or normal operation is detected.
What is the most common reason for check engine light?
Replacing a faulty oxygen sensor — a sensor used to optimize a vehicle’s fuel-to-air mixture to increase gas mileage and reduce emissions — is the most common cause for a check engine light.
How do you read a engine code without a scanner?
A. Using The Ignition Key
- Step 1: Turn The Ignition Key. Switch ON and OFF the ignition key without running the engine.
- Step 2: Check Your Dashboard. Right after the dash lights come up, they’ll turn off, except one—usually the service engine light.
- Step 3: Note And Interpret The Check Engine Codes.
What does a solid check engine light mean?
A solid Check Engine Light can mean something like a loose gas cap, or it can indicate a more in-depth problem like a fuel, timing, or transmission issue. Get your car diagnosed, although the urgency isn’t the same as if the light was flashing at you.
What is a transmission range switch?
The transmission range switch (also known as the neutral safety switch) is an important electronic sensor which tells your car’s powertrain module what gear your car is in. The transmission range switch prevents your car from starting unless your car is set to Park or Neutral.
Check engine light on and P182E trouble code
A technical service bulletin17-NA-084 has been released by General Motors to address a Check engine light on and P182E fault code condition that may occur on the cars mentioned below. Additionally, you may notice that there is no PRNDL display on your instrument cluster in addition to the check engine light and the P182E fault code being shown. You could also notice some difficulty shifting. When the P182E internal mode switch is turned on, it indicates that an invalid range has been designated as active.

How to diagnose and fix P182E
In order to diagnose the internal mode switch, you’ll need a scan instrument that can output live data or a digital multimeter. To begin, check to see that the shift cable has been correctly adjusted. The process for adjusting the shift cable varies depending on the vehicle being used. In order to complete this step, you will require a shop manual. It is critical that you do not omit this step, otherwise you may have the same problem after replacing the internal mode switch. The service manual also contains the complete range of voltage readings that you should expect to see for each gear in the transmission.
- Simply move the shifter and check to see whether the internal mode switch indicates that the right gear option has been selected.
- This feature is found within the transmission, where the internal mode switch lies.
- This will include changing transmission fluid, so you’ll need the right fluid as well as the refilling tool before you can start with the repair.
- The year is 2019.

P182E P0700 CODE
OK So, here’s the latest news. My 2014 Silverado, which was the initial model for that year, has been swapped in for a 2020 SilveradoLT Double Cab, which I purchased new. I AM AWARE! I AM AWARE! It’s possible that I’ll come into the same problem. This problem occurred extremely seldom and without rhyme or reason, and it only occurred if I let the RED highlightgear indicator to remain in Park (P) for more than 3 seconds after it had faded. When this happened, the error code/engine light would illuminate.
In the end, it was another issue that popped up (again, irregularly, with 22k in between occurrences) that led me to sell it in for a newer model.
This one was not produced on a Monday or a Friday, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
The new one, on the other hand, has me rather pleased.
SOOi will not be able to determine (with my money, at least) what went wrong with the 2014 vehicle. I sincerely hope you two are able to find a solution to your problem. Best of luck.

P182E OBD-II Diagnostic Powertrain (P) Trouble Code Description
This is what the P182E engine fault code is about.
Main reason For P182E Code
The malfunction of the Engine Oil Temperature Sensor is the cause of the P182E OBD-II Engine Trouble Code.
It is doubtful that replacing the sensor would address the problem that is causing the P182E DTC to be displayed. The failure is very certainly caused by the systems that the sensor is monitoring, but it might also be caused by the wiring that connects the sensor to the rest of the system.
Service Stabilitrac / Service Traction Control
Has the source of the problem been identified and isolated? It appears that I have a separate problem, as the Traction Control and Stabilitrak systems are both going off, with warnings/advice to get the braking system serviced – yet there is no loss of engine power (yet – it does appear to hesitate a bit with some accelerations). The first event occurred after the automobile was left parked in subzero temperatures overnight (unusual for my 2009 Traverse which has lived in balmy Southern California all its life – but we took a trip to Yosemite at the end of March and had snow for two nights).
- It looked to be in good condition, but it was closer to the minimum than the maximum level.
- It occurred to me that perhaps the chilly weather had an affect on the levels or level sensing.
- Again, there were no issues in the afternoon.
- After a 15-minute drive and restart, there was no issue.
- My 2009 Traverse has accumulated 40k miles.
- I’m tempted to start with a simple fluid addition as a first effort.

P1825: Internal Mode Switch Invalid Range OBD-II Trouble Code
In this case, the internal mode switch is a sliding contact switch that is connected to the valve’s internal mode switch. Its aim is to inform the transmission control module (TCM) of the gear you have picked through the use of an electrical signal that it delivers. The presence of a P1825 DTC simply indicates that the IMS is unable to determine the gear you have picked.
Do you require a replacement transmission? Get a quote for replacement transmissions and local installation services in your area. Make a search for your transmission model using the make and model of your car.
What Transmission Do I Have?
A P1825 diagnostic issue code is extremely significant since it indicates that the transmission control module has instructed the transmission to operate at maximum line pressure, which may cause damage to the clutches, seals, valves, and other associated components. It is also possible that the solenoids, as well as the torque converter lockup clutch and the adaptive learn shifting functions, will not operate properly.
Symptoms
Among the signs and symptoms of a P1825 are:
- Gear shifts that are extremely sudden
- The transmission will not shift into the proper gear
- The PRNDL display no longer functions
- Limp Mode, which allows for only limited torque converter operation.
Causes
- Failure of the internal mode switch
- Damage to the shift cable or it being out of alignment
How to Diagnose the Code?
When diagnosing a P1825 DTC, it is necessary to examine the shift linkage that connects to the internal mode switch. If it is out of alignment, it might cause difficulties to develop. Electrical testing, on the other hand, will disclose whether or not the internal mode switch is malfunctioning. Do you require a replacement transmission? Get a quote for replacement transmissions and local installation services in your area. Make a search for your transmission model using the make and model of your car.

My new LS just Freaked out on me!
So, while I was driving along, I decided to pull over at a bank to get some money out of the ATM, which was no huge problem at the time. There were no parking spaces available, so I simply turned on the emergency lights, put the car in park, activated the e-brake, and left it running (friends were in the car, so no one could jump in and take off, of course). However, when I returned to my car, the check engine light and the stabilitrack light were both illuminated, indicating a problem. As soon as I started driving away, I realized I had virtually no power left in my body.
- Also, the gear indicator, which typically displays P/R/N/D/M to indicate what gear the car was in, was entirely blank.
- This time, both lights were still on, but at least I had access to electrical outlets.
- There was a quick and mild sound of metal scrapping against metal near where my front left strut is located as I was traveling at roughly 15-20 MPH with around 50 percent throttle applied.
- Again, the sound was present, but just the first time, and it was accompanied by what felt like a snap, as if something had come loose; and after that, there was no metallic sound when starting from a stop.
- As a result, my car is now languishing at the dealership, where it will not even be looked at until the dealership re-opens on Monday.
Is there anyone out there that has any clue what may be going wrong? I’ve only owned the car for about 7 weeks (just 2 days short of the 7-week mark), and I’ve put around 3,700 miles on it.
2011 CTS codes p0700 p182e after prolonged rain
Hello: I’m new here and tried searching for something but couldn’t locate anything. Check engine lights have been on on my 2011 Cadillac CTS 3.0L. P0700 is a generic transmission code, while p182e is a transmission control unit code that has anything to do with transmission control unit. These codes always appear to appear after a period of heavy rain. When this happened, it also appeared to be experiencing some shifting troubles. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, where they replaced the shift position sensor.
There will be no shifting concerns this time.
When the codes are shown, they are normally just for a small period of time, activating the check engine light, and then being stored in the memory.
I performed some research and discovered that several General Motors models, such as the Malibu, Cruz, and other similar vehicles, have moisture in the engine compartment fuse region, resulting in ‘micro arcing.’ The solution was to apply dielectric grease to the connections on the fuse panel.
- It is designated as NHSTA item 10043320.
- Is there anyone out there who has had experience with any of this or who has access to TSB’s who would be prepared to assist me?
- I’m doing my best not to come in the way of him.
- Thanks.

P182E Diagnostic Code And P182E OBD-II Code Look-Up
P182E is an OBD-II Diagnostic Trouble Code that is associated with the P-Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Code. Generalized means that it applies to all makes and models of automobiles, yet precise repair processes may change based on your car’s make and model, and so is termed generic.
Symptoms
The following are possible symptoms of a P182E diagnostic problem code:
- Overheating of the engine
- Blown fuse (if applicable)
- Insufficiency of power
- As the DPF regenerates, the light may remain on or illuminate intermittently. It will be difficult to accelerate since the engine will be slow.
Possible Causes:
- Because of the leak, sensor values are altered, resulting in the code being generated. Air leaks are caused by rusted exhaust systems, fractured exhaust manifolds, damaged or missing gaskets or donuts, and other factors. Occasionally, a malfunctioning Powertrain Control Module (after replacement, PCM programming is necessary)
Repair Processes:
Use the DVOM to check the resistance and continuity of all system circuits to ensure that the resistance levels of the actuators and sensors are within the manufacturer’s standard range. Keep an eye out for a missing ground strap or rusted ground where the gasoline tank is grounded to the chassis of the vehicle. Examine the wiring harness connection for signs of damage. Examine the plug wires to ensure that they are not burned or sitting on the exhaust.
Process Tips
Code for diagnostic troubleshooting P182E is a relatively simple error to diagnose and correct. Having a skilled technician inspect your car in the event that this error code occurs is always a good idea. The engine must be in good running condition, with no unmetered air entering the engine, in order to properly diagnose this code. If there are any other error codes present, such as those related to misfiring condition, lean running, or air entering the engine, you must first resolve those error codes before attempting to resolve P182E.

Chevrolet Traverse Vsa Warning Light On Problems
Owners of the Chevrolet Traverse have reported 18 issues related to the vsa warning light being on (under the electronic stability control category).
The most current problems that have been reported are shown below. Please also have a look at the statistics and reliability analysis of the Chevrolet Traverse based on all of the faults that have been documented for this vehicle.
1Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on November 29, 2019. This is the first time the automobile has been on the highway. Engine power has been lost. The engine light and the stability light both illuminated. Engine power was lowered as a result of cycling through fault codes, and the service stability track was turned off. P16820 is the code. It happened a second time at a traffic signal. The vehicle will not travel faster than 10 miles per hour. The engine is running choppy, as if it’s about to stall. After being turned off overnight, the automobile was restarted and operated normally, with the exception of the engine light remaining illuminated.
- I’m unable to replicate.
- There should be a recall of this product!
- Families that have children like to purchase Traverses.
- See a list of all the issues with the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse.
2Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse
11/29/2019 – Date of Failure This is the first time the car has been on the roadway since the accident. Engine power is no longer available. The engine light and the stability light both illuminated simultaneously. Reducing engine power and servicing stability track, as well as turning off traction control, were all done while cycling through problem codes. I’m looking for the number p16820. At a stop light for the second time, it occurred. No faster than 10 miles per hour is possible in this vehicle.
- It restarted and operated normally after being turned off overnight, except that the engine light remained illuminated during the process.
- I’m not able to duplicate it at the moment.
- Surely, there should be some sort of recall?
- Families that have children like to buy Traverses.
- All of the troubles with the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse can be found right here!
3Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on March 2, 2018. In addition, the service stability track and traction control lights remain on at all times. I lose my momentum, and the vehicle begins to wobble. Chevrolet acknowledged that I had a problem, but did not specify what it was or what it was not causing it. See a list of all the issues with the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse.
4Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on January 31, 2018. The engine power is reduced as a result of the stability/traction control light turning on. When I took it to the mechanic, nothing appeared to be wrong or to have been incorrect on the computer. During this time, the cruise control would not function, and I would have to press down on the gas pedal really hard. So far, this has happened three times. See a list of all the issues with the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse.
5Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on October 30, 2017. While driving my 2014 Chevrolet Traverse, my stability track light and engine light came on, and the car jerked out of control, causing it to crash.
This has happened more than once, and it has happened at least five times already. I called Chevrolet today to complain, and my car is now at the dealership, where they are trying to figure out what is wrong with it.
6Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse
On October 30, 2017, there was a failure. The stability track light and engine light came on while driving my 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. The car jerked out of control and could have caused an accident. This happened more than once, and it happened five times already. I called Chevrolet today to file a complaint, and my car is now at the dealership, where they are trying to figure out what’s wrong.
7Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on January 8, 2017. My vehicle’s engine power was lowered, the stability track loss lights illuminated, and the vehicle came to a complete stop while I was driving with my children in the car and my wife on the highway. It was impossible to move the car. The dealership was unable to resolve the issue, having merely discovered a number of codes from the past and failing to resolve the issue. Gm must stand behind their product and replace these automobiles as soon as possible, or cure the problem.

10Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on January 21, 2016. Driving my 2013 Chevrolet Traverse on the highway at 65 mph when the stability trac light illuminates and the vehicle slows down to 20 mph in about 20 seconds, I could have caused a serious accident that could have resulted in severe injury or death to myself and the young children in the vehicle with me, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. See a list of all the issues with the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse.
11Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on January 18, 2016. While going to work in the early morning hours of January 18, 2016, my check engine light and stability control light illuminated. Within a minute, my steering failed and I collided with a road sign. The traction control had been switched off before to driving away from my residence, as recommended by my service adviser at the Chevrolet dealership. I think that General Motors is to blame for the damage to my vehicle. I took my 2011 Chevrolet Traverse to the dealership the same day it was purchased.
The codes for the throttle body were po221-po121po300, and they were diagnosed as such.
I wanted a secure car for myself and my family, but now I’m not sure whether it’s still safe, even with the repairs that have been done to the vehicle.
12Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on October 10, 2015. It happened as I was travelling on the interstate at 55 miles per hour when the traction control stability warning light came on, and the car lost speed for a few seconds before picking up its speed again, and the message of reduced engine power flashed on the dash display.
I came to a complete stop and shut off the car for a few minutes. When I put it back on, the engine light illuminated and has been illuminated ever since.
13Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on March 6, 2015. The contact has a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, which he purchased recently. The traction control and electronic stability control warning lights came on while travelling at 45 mph. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the instrument panel failed to respond, and the car failed to accelerate as a result. The failure recurred on an irregular basis. Although the car was towed to a dealership for evaluation, no cause of failure could be determined. The automobile was not fixed in this instance.
The mileage at the time of failure was 92,739.
14Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on February 25, 2015. Driving at 60 miles per hour on the highway. The reduce power light and the stability control light both illuminated. Traverse reduced to a 20-mile-per-hour speed. I was unable to accelerate. On the freeway, I was on the verge of being rear-ended. I took the Traverse to the dealership, where the throttle body was replaced. It’s past time for a recall.
15Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on December 30, 2014. Make use of a remote starter. Upon completing a few minutes of warming up, open the door and enter the car. Once the key was turned to the on position, the doors began to lock and unlock. When I put the vehicle in reverse, it hardly moved. Have you ever tried to drive and it refused to move? The check engine light is illuminated, as are the stability track lights. When you have to get to work, this is not a good thing.
16Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on July 23, 2014. This has happened twice in the last 30 days, making it a trend. While in motion, the vehicle’s gearbox jerks, and the vehicle’s speed is decreased to 5 miles per hour. The check engine light illuminates, as does the stability control indicator light. On-star performed a remote diagnostics scan and discovered three problem codes: c0561, p0700, and p182e. It happened for the first time as I was exiting a motorway off-ramp. We had to tow this vehicle to the dealership for repairs.
They were unable to reproduce the issue and had to return the car to my possession.
This is an exceedingly unsafe system behavior that might have easily resulted in a serious event at a high-traffic crossroads with no warning.
For 15 minutes, we shut off the vehicle’s engine. Normal operations were restored once the computer was restarted, with the exception of the check engine light. After around 25-30 miles of driving, the check engine light was switched off.
17Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on March 15, 2014. The vehicle was a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse with all-wheel drive that had a history of engine oil leaks that necessitated engine removal and reinstallation on four separate occasions. When the car’s all-wheel drive and vehicle stability control lights came on, it was on the highway. ‘Service stabiltrack’,’service awd’, and ‘awd disabled’ were all indicated by Dic. At the time, the car was ‘chugging,’ but the chugging became significantly worse shortly after, to the point that the vehicle was unable to accelerate or sustain speed at cruise, or without cruise, over standard hills on an interstate highway.
- At the crest of a hill, the vehicle slowed to around 50 mph.
- The car was taken in once, immediately following the initial event; all three lights had gone out at that time, and the vehicle continued to operate normally after that.
- They removed the ‘dust’ that had accumulated on the sensor.
- The service shop determined that the wheel sensor was faulty; they changed it (at my expense) and there were no other incidents for almost four months.
- The engine chugging, on the other hand, was considerably worse, and the car could not be driven safely on the interstate because it would not accelerate or maintain a reasonable highway speed.
18Vsa Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse
Failure occurred on December 18, 2012. While traveling, the automobile began to spit and splutter, as if it wasn’t getting enough gasoline to run. Afterwards, when the vehicle was being turned, the air bag light illuminated, as did the stability control light, and the check engine light flashed, never remaining on. After that, the check engine light stopped flashing, but the air bag indicator remained illuminated. When I shut off the automobile, the stability control light remained illuminated.
