The hazardous and terrifying fault causes the vehicle to die while it is being driven, which is quite alarming. Chrysler Pacifica PHEV, Jeep Renegade and Cherokee recalled for stalling

There are several methods for causing a car to stall, which is defined as when the engine abruptly stops functioning. In FiatChrysler’s case, three separate issues affecting three different vehicles have the potential to result in a stall condition being triggered. Let’s take them one by one and examine them.

Recall the first: Pacifica Hybrid engine restarts

The first of three recalls relating to stalling affects 10,021 examples of the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid from model years 2017-2018. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall documentation, it is expected that all of the recalled cars have the issue. Fortunately, as of October 5, the Federal Highway Administration has received no complaints of crashes or injuries resulting from this condition. In this instance, it is possible that the gas engine is not properly synced with the rest of the powertrain.

A stall may result, and unburned gasoline in the catalytic converter may increase the likelihood of a car fire.

FCA specialists will do a software update on the powertrain control module, which will solve any issues with engine synchronization that may have occurred before.

An inspection and possible replacement of the catalyst converter will also be performed. Customers will begin getting recall warnings in the mail beginning December 1.

Recall the second: Cherokee transmission calibrations

Second, and somewhat bigger recall, it affects 86,053 instances of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee equipped with the 2.4-liter I4 gasoline engine. According to the recall documentation, the fault is present in 100 percent of the recalled cars. The source of the problem is the transmission system. Improper calibration of the gearbox can cause automobiles to stall when decelerating, which is dangerous. This certainly increases the likelihood of a collision, however, as with the Pacifica recall, FCA is not aware of any incidents or injuries that have occurred as a result of this fault.

Once again, software is the means of achieving a solution.

This software update should resolve the calibration issue that caused the stall condition in the first place.

Recall the third: Renegade fuel pressure

The third and final recall affects 21,104 examples of the Jeep Renegade 4X2 with the 2.4-liter flex fuel engine from 2017-2018, according to the manufacturer. According to the recall documentation, it is believed that just 5 percent of the recalled vehicles have the problem. The gasoline system is the source of the problem in this instance. Because ordinary gas contains a 10-percent ethanol mix (E10), the fuel pump may cavitate when high power is required in places where the altitude or ambient temperature is very high, as is the case when using E10 gas.

The engine may also continue to run, although in a jerky fashion, and a warning light may activate on the instrument panel.

Owners will begin to receive recall notices in early December, according to the manufacturer.
