Whenever I turn into a parking spot at a slow pace, the trac light illuminates and a brake/abs shudder sound can be heard coming from the pedals of my 2010 150 4×4 crew vehicle. I’ve always been and will continue to be a Ford fanatic.

Afterwards, I drove my truck to the dealer and barely managed to get it to replicate.

They adjusted the computer’s settings.

They charged me $60 for the service.

2010 4×4 Low / Advanctrac Question

I have a query for which I have not been able to locate a solution on this site or in my user manual. I recently purchased a 2010 Ford F150 XLT 4×4. The 4 wheel drive system is activated by turning the knob on the steering wheel. When I shift into 4 Low, the 4 Low light illuminates on the dash (indicating that it has engaged), but the Advancetrac light alternatively flashes on and off. This means that when the 4 Low light turns on, the advancetrac light turns on, then the 4 Low light turns on and so on.

  • Neither in the owner’s handbook nor on the internet can I find a reference to whether or not the advancetrac light should be illuminated in this circumstance.

PostbyWheelie» According to my understanding of the handbook, it appears to flash in 4-low until you push and hold the Traction Button. (See manual for further information). The indicator will remain on, indicating that you have disabled the Advancetrak features.

Without your intervention, the traction control should be turned off automatically (at least it does on my truck). The traction control icon (car with slick tire tracks) illuminates on my center console and remains illuminated during the drive. When I move into 4LO, I am still in neutral. 4LO engages, and I was just wondering what the traction control light was doing there. Today, I stopped and spoke with a man who was driving the same vehicle as me (2010 XLT 4×4). In exchange for doing me a favor, he put his in 4LO, and it performs the same function as mine. After using 4LO, you’ll see the 4×4 Low light illuminated on the cluster display, which indicates that it’s engaged.

  • Since this 2010 performs the exact same function as my own, I assume this is a standard system functioning procedure.
  • Older 4×4 trucks without all the sophisticated lights and indicators are what I’m used to.

PostbyWheelie» To find out more about it, just Google “AdvanceTrac flashing” like I did, and you will see your initial post, a few posts below it is a thread on the issue with a chart (albeit complex) describing about it, flashes to let you know Traction control is still engaged, I think there was something about driving 40 mph and hitting a button next to the car with skid marks to turn it off, and then the light came on solid.

Even if I were as competent at inserting posts as Chris, I would post it here, but it was easily discovered and was a chart form giving possibilities for 4X4 control, the man who created it may have had a Raptor if my recollection serves me well.

PostbyWheelie» Tomtruck, I’ve looked and looked and can’t seem to find it. On a Ford forum, someone had inquired about the functionality of Advanctrack, and you were one of the people who responded. In addition, someone uploaded a picture of the chart. When I went hunting for it, I found it to be Options for the Raptor, of which there are three: On, Sport, and Offroad. When enabled, pushing once will result in Sport mode, while pressing and holding for 10 seconds will result in Off road mode.

It appears that the Raptor comes with the foldout chart that I stated earlier, however this does not apply to our vehicles.
