My 2019 Limited (which I purchased in March) had 3K miles on the odometer when the check engine light came on! When I tried to accelerate above 50 MPH, I experienced severe power loss and the boost levels were nearly completely depleted, just like everyone else. Dealer was closed at the time, so he hobbled home and scheduled an appointment for the following morning with the customer. It was the next morning when I started my vehicle and drove away that I realized the truck was like new again! In any case, I went to the dealer to seek a diagnostic. The dealer performed an OBD scan and discovered P0365 and P0369 codes

The Motor Company replaced the valve covers after 3000 miles (the so-called remedy), but 1 quart of oil went within the next 4100 miles even after the valve covers were replaced. This is on the exact same path that my 2007 CVO Harley put me on in terms of motor difficulties, which included five crate motors in three months while still under warranty. Curiosity got the better of me, so I plugged in an ODB Reader to see if it would output any kind of noteworthy code. Yes, it did! It informed me that a malfunction had been found by my crank shaft sensor. That sparked some ideas in my head. So I checked my oil levels on the dash display, and everything appeared to be in proper working order (pressure, etc.). After that, I checked the actual oil levels, and my stomach dropped! One of my @!$*! percent * oil levels had dropped by about three quarts. It’s possible that I would have seized my engine! I changed the depleted oil right away, and the engine was back up to normal operating levels in no time. WTF! What is the fate of the oil? There are no obvious leaks in or around the engine compartment

My 2014 Ecoboost has just had its second oil change, which I completed today. I was not pleased to learn that it had lost half a gallon in 5000 miles. Despite the fact that I am fully aware that this is within acceptable limits, is typical, and so on, my 15-year-old Brand X vehicle with 195,000 miles on it required less oil. My 2011 SUV from the same Brand X has traveled 5,000 miles without consuming any detectable amounts of oil. According to the handbook, I was using Motorcraft syn-blend in conjunction with a Motorcraft filter.

There is a possibility that gas pollution in the crankcase oil is resulting in the excessive oil consumption.

However, for a variety of reasons, aviation engines do not have the same longevity as automobile engines.

It consumes at least 2 quarts of oil every 1500 to 2000 miles since I purchased the car, and it has gone through 2 plus quarts of oil within 1500 to 2000 miles of each oil change I have made since I purchased the vehicle. If there are no evident exterior oil leaks, both valve covers should be replaced.


2018-02-06· Throttle body failure is the source of my Ford 2016 3.50 eco boost troubles. The timing belt cover is leaking oil. There is an oil leak from the rear seal. 2020-02-15· On the 2018 and 2019 F150 5.0s, there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) out regarding high oil consumption. I believe a solution has been discovered, which may be tied to the PCV system. I’m not sure whether the most recent TSB has anything to do with PCV, but it may. Catch cans are entirely unnecessary on the 5.0, both because they are not required, as Skyactiv mentioned, and because the combination port injection and direct injection make it unnecessary.

  1. The fact that they had an INTERNAL oil consumption problem was eventually revealed after the first visit in April of 2018 and the second visit in January of 2019 confirmed what I had been telling them all along.
  2. Before I drove 5000 miles, I was using 3.5-4 quarts of oil.
  3. Ford authorized the repair and the expense of a loaner truck for the length of the repair while the vehicle was still under factory warranty.

The low engine pressure indicator came on while traveling out of town on city streets at speeds ranging from 40 to 450 miles per hour. On a few occasions, this occurred on an intermittent basis. In an effort to avoid more damage, I drove the car to the Ford dealership, where I was informed that the oil intake pump had failed and that it would need to be replaced. Just a couple of hundred miles into my brand new 2016 2.7 ecoboost, I observed that it was devouring oil at a pace of around one quart per 1000 to 1100 miles. It has only recently completed its first oil change. I told the service representative that the information had fallen on deaf ears and that they couldn’t have cared less. Now I understand why. According to Ford, I’m simply a huge, dumb animal who is just there to pay for and drive the car they’ve built for them. On rare occasions, it would emit blue smoke from the exhaust pipe.

2016 Ford F-150 2.7L EcoBoost V6. 3000 miles and 1 1/2 quarts of oil have been consumed. At 5000 miles, I’d burned up another half gallon of gas. When the engine is started, it emits smoke. Ford Dealership in Vernal, UT informed me that there are issues with the block and that it is necessary to replace the engine. REALLY? It’s a lease, and I’d like to go on to something else. Smoky Joe was the name given to it. The O’MERA FORD dealership in Denver is in the process of converting this vehicle to a smokeless model.

My Ford F-150 with the 2.7 EcoBoost has already consumed about 8 quarts of oil over the course of 6600 miles. Because to the engine shutting down during a pass (duh, stupid ass feature), an illuminated warning light flashed, reading ‘LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE.’ I was driving and stopped for the night; the next morning, I checked the oil and saw that there was NO OIL ON DIPSTICK, NOTHING AT ALL. While in Cortez, Colorado, I brought it to the dealer so they could check and see how low it really was.

  1. So by the time I returned home and presented it to my dealer, the qt had dropped another quart at 5200 miles.
  2. I drove home, 75 miles from the dealer, and after a few hundred miles, it was at least a quart low again.
  3. Keep in mind that there should be no smoke or leakage.
  4. The car is about 2 and 1/2 quarts short on fuel, and it smokes like a chimney sporadically.

2019 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost Burning Oil

Greetings to everyone. I’m new to the forum and have just purchased a new Ford F-150. The vehicle in question is a 2019 Ford F-150 with 9,200 miles on it. The vehicle is a Lariat Crew Cab with a 6.5-foot bed and a 3.5-liter ecoboost engine with the maximum towing capability. It was created in response to the valve cover warning that was sent regarding oil usage. With this truck, I’ve been in and out of the dealership several times. The long and the short of it is that the truck used 3.5 quarts of oil within the first 7,000 miles that I drove it.

Due to the clicking sound experienced at cold starts until the oil pressure develops, the dealer has requested that the camshaft phasers be replaced by the customer’s local dealership.

I checked all over the internet for a solution to this question, but I couldn’t find it anywhere.

It is possible that it will work if that is the only issue, but until everything has been certified to be in working condition, no one can truly tell you or give a commitment that it will. In less than 6000 miles, I’ve gone through more than 6 quarts of gas. Due to Ford’s allegation that this amount of oil consumption is normal during break in, any repairs will not be authorized (what a joke). Because of this, I will have to deal with the oil consumption testing/PINTA for another 4000 miles, which will take me another year based on the way I drive my truck.

even those who have purchased a large number of Ford automobiles I believe they are still dealing with the same valve cover issue, but they refuse to acknowledge it.

When the oil was getting low, I replaced it one quart at a time until it was gone, and then I bought the 2020 5.0 V8. The 2020 has 5,000 miles on it, and the oil level is about 4/5 of a quart lower than it should be. Ford has an issue with the amount of oil that its engines consume.

Reuters reported that a class action lawsuit against Ford has been launched on behalf of F-150s equipped with the 5.0-liter engines from 2018 to 2020 that were sold in the United States.
